(CITY OF GUELPH)- On September 11, 2015 at approximately 2:25 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducted a R.I.D.E. program on Highway 6 North and College Avenue, Guelph. Police spoke with a male driver of a 2003 Honda and detected an odour of alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
22-year-old Garrett SCHMIDT of Brockton has been charged with Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on October 30, 2015 to answer to the charge.
