(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Sunday September 13, 2015, shortly after 4 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to an address along Tremaine Ave South in Listowel, where the North Perth Fire Department was fighting a suspicious shed fire. The wooden shed with metal exterior approximately 10’ x 20’ in size, was fully engulfed in flames by the time the fire department arrived.
Investigation by the Perth County OPP determined that a citizen had observed a young male depart the location of the shed just prior to the fire call. The accurate description of the youth allowed police to determine his identity. Further investigation also resulted in the laying of numerous criminal charges.
A 14 year old male youth who is a Municipality of North Perth resident has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
– Arson – damage to property
– Break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence
– Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence
– Mischief under $5,000
The youth was released on a “Promise to Appear”, and will be attending at the Listowel Youth Court on Wednesday October 28, 2015, to answer to the charges.
