(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) – Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a serious motor vehicle collision which occurred between a motorcycle and a pick-up truck earlier this morning September 23, 2015.
The collision occurred around 7:38 a.m. on Iona Rd, Dutton/Dunwich. At the time of the collision a motorcycle was traveling northbound on Iona Rd. while a pick-up truck was travelling southbound. It appears that the pick-up was making a left turn to travel onto the Highway 401 West Bound on-ramp and travelled into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the pick-up.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 31-year-old man from Dutton, ON a year-old sustained serious life threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital.
The driver of the pick-up truck, a 82-year-old London ON man, was not injured in the collision.
OPP Technical Traffic Collision investigators are currently on scene assisting with the investigation which in ongoing.
It is anticipated that Iona Rd. at the 401 over pass will remain closed until approximately 12:30pm to facilitate the investigation.
