Collisions Involving Pedestrians

(WATFORD, ON) – On September 23, 2015 at approximately 4:15 p.m. members of the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the intersection of Nauvoo Road at Erie Street in the Town of Watford, Warwick, Ontario to investigate a collision involving a pick-up truck and two pedestrians, one of which was seated within a wheelchair.

Investigation revealed that the pick-up truck had come to a stop and then commenced a turning motion prior to striking the pedestrians. This was a low impact collision. The pedestrians were transported to Hospital and received medical treatment for minor injuries. With regard to charges, the OPP investigation is ongoing.

(PETROLIA, ON)- On September 24, 2015 at approximately 9:00 a.m. members of the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the intersection of Petrolia Line at King Street within the Town of Petrolia, Enniskillen Township to investigate a collision involving a four door car and two pedestrians, one of which was seated within a baby stroller.

Investigation revealed that the car had come to a stop and then commenced a turning motion prior to striking the pedestrians. This was also a low impact collision. The pedestrians, one of which was an 18 month old child, were transported to Hospital and received medical treatment for minor injuries. With regard to charges, the OPP investigation is ongoing.

The OPP are reminding all motorists to be aware of designated crosswalks and intersections where pedestrians may be crossing. As well, all pedestrians must remain vigilant and be aware of their obligations in relation to crossing highways designated for motor vehicles.

As drivers we would never want to be the operator of a motor vehicle that has struck a pedestrian regardless of who is at fault or who has the right of way. The clear loser of this collision will be the pedestrian.
