(CALEDON, ON) – On September 27th, 2015 shortly after 11:30 pm, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located a male operating a golf cart on Kingsview Drive in the Village of Bolton. The male operator observed police approaching him and he attempted to reverse the golf cart in order to evade police. The officers approached the operator on foot and immediately detected a strong odour of alcohol on his breath and noted that he displayed other signs of impairment. The male was arrested for Impaired Operation and transported for testing. Throughout their investigation, officers also learned that the operator was Disqualified from Driving through a Court Order.
As a result of the investigation, Paul Edward CARSON 43, of Caledon was arrested and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired, Refuse to Provide a Sample and Driving While Disqualified. He is also charged with Driving While Under Suspension.
The 90-day Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his golf cart was impounded for 7 days.
The accused was released and he is scheduled to make a first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on November 5th, 2015.
