(SUDBURY, ON)- On October 2, 2015, members of the Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) established a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) – Seat Belt initiative on Estaire Road in the City of Greater Sudbury.
At approximately 2:30 pm, officers had occasion to observe a pickup truck approaching the R.I.D.E. set up and take evasive action by turning onto Ethier’s Sand and Gravel Pit Road. The vehicle was located and the driver displayed signs of having consumed alcohol.
As a result of the investigation, officers arrested and charged the male driver.
The driver, Neil MCPHAIL, 45 years of age from Sudbury, is charged with Care or Control Over 80 Milligrams, contrary to the Criminal Code.
MCPHAIL will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, on October 28, 2015, to answer to his charges.
The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
