Marie Linda GUENETTE – Impaired Driving

(ESPANOLA, ON)- On October 3, 2015 at 4:21 p.m., officers from the Espanola Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 17 near the Town of Walford. Investigation revealed that a white pickup truck was eastbound on Highway 17, being operated in an erratic manner, travelling at fluctuating speeds and swerving all over of the roadway.

As a result of the investigation, police were able to locate and stop the involved vehicle on Highway 17 just west of Espanola.

Marie Linda GUENETTE, 53 years of age from Spanish, was arrested and charged with the following:

1. Driving While Ability Impaired, contrary to the Criminal Code.

2. Care or Control of Motor Vehicle With More Than 80 Milligrams, contrary to the Criminal Code.

3. Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, contrary to the Criminal Code.

GUENETTE’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven (7) days.

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, on November 3, 2015, to answer to her charges.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
