(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – On Monday October 12, 2015 officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) City of Kawartha Lakes detachment charged the following persons with criminal driving offences.
During the afternoon officers investigated a driving complaint in the Norland area. As a result of the investigation, Stephen BROWN, 57 years of age, of Oshawa was arrested and charged with Driving While Disqualified contrary to section 259(4) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) and Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CCC. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
At approximately 7 pm an officer observed a motorcycle travelling southbound on Highway 35 without any headlights on. The vehicle was stopped and an investigation was commenced. The driver, Scott WHITE, 39 years of age, of Lindsay was found to have been drinking. He was subsequently arrested and charged with the following offences:
Driving With More than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(b) of the CCC
Driving While Under Suspension contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Drive Without Proper Headlight – Motorcycle contrary to section 62(2) HTA
Drive Motor Vehicle – No Plates contrary to section 7(1)(b) HTA
The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on November 12, 2015.
