(Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were called to a head-on collision near the 11th Line of Belmont Sunday just after 3:30pm.
A westbound Toyota hatchback crossed the centre line and came into collision with an eastbound Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck. The driver, and lone occupant, of the Toyota was a 71 year old male from the Ottawa area. He was transported to Kingston area hospital with critical injuries.
The driver of the truck was 50 year old female from the Trenton area. She was transported by Ornge air ambulance in critical condition to a Toronto area hospital. The male passenger in the pickup truck was transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers from the Peterborough County OPP and Highway Safety Division continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this collision.
The roadway was closed for several hours while Collision Reconstructionist and Technical Collision Investigators measured and documented the scene. Highway 7 reopened just before 6:30pm Sunday.
Currently, both drivers have been listed as in stable condition.
