(CRAMAHE TWP, ON) –On October 15, 2015 at 8:55pm Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of an erratic driver in a black pickup truck on County Road 2 near Salem. Witnesses observed the driver exit his truck on a side road and lie down, leaving his vehicle parked on the roadway.
Responding officers located the sleeping man and quickly determined that he had been drinking. He was arrested and taken to the Brighton detachment for tests.
As a result of these tests, Derek ERWIN age 50 of Clarington, Ontario is charged with Impaired Care & Control of a motor vehicle, Having Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg in 100ml of blood and Driving while under suspension. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on November 18, 2015.
A 90 day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension was issued (effective immediately) and the truck was towed from the scene.
