(ROCKLAND, ON) – On October 21, 2015 at approximately 6:45AM officers of the Russell County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious two vehicle crash at Joanisse Road and Vinette Road South of Rockland.
The 2002 Pontiac Sunfire driven by Alex Chantigny, age 23 of Gatineau was travelling southbound when it was hit by an 2014 Hyundai Elantra travelling westbound on Vinette Road.
The driver of the Sunfire was pronounced deceased at the scene. His male passenger and the second driver were transported to the hospital with non-life injuries.
The male driver 53 year-old, Luc Boudreau of Clarence Creek has been charged with Careless driving under the Highway traffic Act.
Joanisse Road and Vinette Road were closed for approximately 7 hours and have been reopened.
