(LAKESHORE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Lakeshore conducted a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) initiative on October 25, 2015 at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Essex County Road 22 near West Puce Road.
Officers observed a red Jeep which braked abruptly and turned before the RIDE stop in an effort to evade police. Officers stopped the vehicle a short distance away.
The vehicle contained a driver and four passengers and a strong odour of alcohol emanated from inside the vehicle. The driver was issued a Roadside Screening Device Demand which she “failed”. Alcohol was found inside the vehicle.
She was arrested at the scene.
The 17 year old driver from Lakeshore was charged with Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content. She will appear in a Windsor court at a later date to answer to the charge.
