(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On October 24, 2015 at approximately 10:08 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting stationary observation on Erin Park Drive in the Town of Erin. This portion of the road is described as being a cul de sac, straight, marked asphalt highway with no markings and is frequently used for street driving offences such as street racing, burnouts, etc. Local businesses have complained in regards to property damage from these offences.
At this time and location officers observed a black GMC Sierra approach at a high rate of speed and perform two 360 degree uncontrolled spins on the roadway. Police conducted a traffic stop and a spoke with the driver.
His driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of 7 days as per statute.
A 17-year-old male from Erin has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle Perform Stunt – Spin or Circle Without Control contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on November 18, 2015 to answer to the charge.
