(HEARST, ON) – On October 21, 2015, at 10:46 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop for a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 11 in Stoddart Township, which lead to two persons being arrested and charged.
The driver, Karine VIENNEAU, 25, of Ste-Rosette, NB has been charged with the following offences:
Race a motor vehicle contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario, as well as;
Fail to surrender insurance card contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA)
Her driver’s licence was suspended and the motor vehicle was impounded for seven days. She will appear at the Provincial Offences Court in Hearst, on January 12, 2016 to answer to the charges.
A passenger in the vehicle, Danny HUARD, 27, of Bathurst, NB has been charged with the following offences:
Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – Over 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), as well as;
Fail to Comply with Undertaking contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC).
The seized marihuana has an estimated street value of $2000. He was released on a Recognizance and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Hearst on December 16, 2015 to answer to the charges.
