(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On November 7, 2015 at approximately 8:30 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) was conducting speed enforcement and monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Clair Road, Guelph. A male driving a 2002 Acura was observed travelling northbound at a speed well above the posted speed limit and was locked on radar at 143 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
His driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of 7 days as per statute.
22-year-old Nirav Harshadrai SHAH of Vaughan has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on December 2, 2015 to answer to the charge.
