Hunter Arrested After Abandoning Loaded Firearm

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County detachment has charged a 37 year old male with Firearm offences after investigating a hunting complaint at a Lakeshore Road, Selkirk, Haldimand County, ON address.

On Friday November 13th, 2015 at approximately 12:45 pm Police were called to the Lakeshore Road address out of concern for possible careless use of a firearm and possible hunting law infractions.

As a result of Police investigation an unattended loaded firearm was located and seized. A short time later a male hunter was located which resulted in his arrest.

Charged with Careless Storage of a Firearm, and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm is 37 year old Christopher CARRIGAN of Halton Region, ON. He is to appear in Provincial Court, Cayuga, ON at a later date to answer to the charges.
