More Impaired Drivers Busted

(CALEDON, ON) – During the week of November 8th to November 15th, officers from the R.I.D.E. (Reducing Impaired Driving Everywhere) Team and Patrol Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted 22 R.I.D.E. spot checks at various locations within the Town of Caledon.

Charges and Suspensions:

– 36 Approved Screening Device Tests (Drivers who consumed alcohol but breath

samples were less than 50 mgs)

– 3 – Three-Day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspensions

– 5 Impaired Operation/Over 80 arrests from the R.I.D.E. program

Impaired/Over 80/Refuse or Fail to Provide Sample Arrests made during the above-mentioned week:

-On November 8th, Francesco RIZZO, age 23, from the Town of Erin was charged with the offences of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operating a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mg of Alcohol, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

-On November 9th, Joseph DIGREGORIO, age 29, from Bolton was charged with the offence of Operating a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mg of Alcohol, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada, as well as several Highway Traffic Act Offences.

-On November 9th, Christopher HENDERSON, age 29, from Caledon was charged with the offence of Operating a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mg of Alcohol, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

-On November 11th, Robert GERL, age 40, from Etobicoke was charged with the offences of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Refusing to Provide a Breath Sample, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

-On November 12th, Jason MARKIEWICZ, age 36, of no fixed address was charged with the offences of Drive While Disqualified, Obstruct Police, Fail to Comply With a Probation Order and Refusing to Provide a Breath Sample, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada, as well as an offence under the Liquor License Act.
