Impaired Driving Charge Laid After Man Hits Signs

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On November 19, 2015 at approximately 7:14 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a driving complaint that a 1993 Ford pickup truck was driving in an unsafe manner and struck two road signs on Jones Baseline, Guelph-Eramsoa Township. Officers stopped the vehicle on Eastview Road, and observed damage to the truck. Police believed that the male driver was impaired by a drug. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for testing.

The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.

34-year-old Garrett ERDELAC of Guelph has been charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drug and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on December 22, 2015.
