The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 162 calls for service in the last 24 hours. 11 people were arrested.
Break and Enter CK15017994
Shortly after 3pm, yesterday Chatham-Kent Police received a call for service regarding suspicious subjects carrying electrical wiring in the area of Park Ave West, Chatham. Officers were able to locate two males and one female within the area, carrying the electrical wiring.
After an investigation it was determined that the wire had been taken from a Break and Enter into a business in the area of Park Ave West. As a result a 44 year old Chatham man and a 48 year old Chatham man were arrested and held bending a bail hearing for Break and Enter and Possession of Stolen Property. A 44 year old Chatham female was released on a future court date for Possession of Stolen Property.
DNA helps solve Break and Enter CK15014304
Chatham-Kent Police have arrested 2 parties in connection with a break and enter in Chatham.
On May 19th, police responded to a break and enter on Stanley Ave. The scene was examined and evidence was seized for forensic analysis. Police received information from the Centre of Forensic Sciences stating that a DNA profile was generated and matched that of a local man. Through investigation it was determined that 3 males were responsible for the Break and Enter.
Shortly before noon a 33 year-old Chatham man was located and taken into custody, a 29 year old Dover Twp man was charged as well and a 23 year-old Chatham man has also been charged .
Women Charged with Impaired Driving CK15018007
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a female for impaired driving following a collision last night in Dresden.
Shortly before 5pm, emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision. A minivan was travelling on Croton line, and struck a hydro pole. After hitting the hydro pole, the minivan continued to drive on croton line when the driver struck a pick-up truck on the roadway.
Through investigation, the officer believed the female driver of the minivan to be operating her motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The female was transported to Chatham-Kent health alliance with minor injuries. As a result the female provided breath samples to officers while at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
A 46 year old Sarnia woman was charged blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. She was released from custody with a future court date.
Special Event for Law Enforcement Torch Run
