A 69 year-old Guelph woman sustained serious injuries Wednesday after the pick-up truck she was a passenger in ended up running over her in a bizarre sequence of events.
The victim and her son had just returned home on Cityview Drive when the vehicle started to roll backwards down the driveway. The driver, who had just exited the vehicle attempted to regain control however was knocked to the ground suffering a minor head injury.
The victim attempted to exit the truck while it was in motion subsequently falling out of the passenger side door and coming to rest under the right front wheel.
Members of GWEMS and GFD assisted in extricating the victim and transporting her to the Guelph General Hospital.
The pick-up truck, a 2005 Ford quad-cab received damage to the right front door with damage exceeding $2,500.00.
