Multiple break and enters reported over the weekend
-On July 11, 2015 at 7:17 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Surrey Street business to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime overnight through an unlocked front door. A Buddha statue and a three foot tall vase are reported stolen.

-On July 11, 2015 at 9:03 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Tiffany Street West residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime overnight by removing a screen to access the unlocked window. No theft is reported in this incident.

-On July 12, 2015 the Guelph Police went to two Speedvale Avenue East residences to investigate break and enters. In both incidents, doors were damaged to gain entry and jewelry was stolen. One occurred in the late morning while the other occurred in the early afternoon.

-On July 12, 2015 at 1:20 p.m., the Guelph Police went to an Albert Street residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) forced a door to a storage shed to gain entry sometime over the weekend. A theft of tools and golf clubs is reported.

Man arrested for mischief to property
On July 10, 2015 at 11:58 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the apartments at 6-16 Willow Road for the report of a male going through cars in the parking lot. Prior to police arrival it is alleged that the male sat on a motorcycle and was confronted by the owner. The male threw the bike to the ground, damaging it, and ran from the area. Police were able to locate the male and he was arrested.
Trevor Aldrich, 40 years of Eden Mills has been charged with mischief under $5,000. He will appear in court on September 1, 2015.
Impaired driver arrested
On July 12, 2015 at 2:15 a.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a possible impaired driver at the intersection of Speedvale Avenue and Imperial Road. Police located the car at this intersection with a male asleep in the driver’s seat and the car running. Police spoke with the male and he was arrested.
James Gibbs, 36 years of Guelph has been charged with care and control impaired driving and care and control over 80 mg’s. He will appear in court on July 28, 2015.
Male causing issues on road is arrested
On July 12, 2015 at 1:15 a.m., the Guelph Police received the report that two males were throwing beer bottles at passing cars and interfering with traffic by running onto the road on Paisley Street near downtown. Police located one of the males, a 31-year-old Guelph man, and he was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.
Theft from cars
Over the weekend the Guelph Police received seven reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Grove Street, Dawson Road, Wyndham Street South, Whitelaw Road, Elizabeth Street, Gordon Street and Bristol Street.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.
