Occurrence Type: Motor Vehicle Collision

Date: Sunday, September 13, 2015 – 11:20am

On Sunday, September 13 2015, shortly after 11:00 a.m., police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Hart Drive, City of Barrie.

The driver had lost control of the vehicle causing it to roll over. Witnesses to the collision stopped and assisted pulling the driver from the vehicle.

The Barrie Police Service Traffic Unit arrived on scene, and after further investigation it was determined the driver had not adjusted his driving too meet the needs of the wet road conditions.

The 22-year-old, Barrie male was charged with careless driving.

Occurrence Type: Break and Enter

Date: Sunday, September 13, 2015 – 10:00pm

On Sunday, September 13 2015, at 10:00 p.m., police responded to a break and enter that had occurred at a residence on Owen Street, City of Barrie.

Upon arrival police were advised the shed in the backyard had been broken into. The shed had been secured by a pad lock, which had been cut to gain entry by unknown person(s).

An inventory of the shed had revealed that a bicycle had been stolen. The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with any information to call crime stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or call police.

Occurrence Type: Aggravated Assault

Date: Saturday, September 12, 2015 – 2:30am

On Saturday, September 12, 2015, Police responded to an incident that occurred in the ally way located east of 91 Dunlop Street East in the City of Barrie. A 22 year old female became involved in an altercation with two males which led to her being struck in the face. A passerby witnessed the incident and assisted the female who was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Center for serious facial injuries. Two vehicles also sustained minor damages during the altercation. A male suspect, believed to be known to the victim, is still being sought by Police. Occurrence Type: Impaired Driving/Collision

Date: Saturday, September 12, 2015 – 4:20am

On Saturday, September 12, 2015, Police responded to a single vehicle collision at Big Bay Point Road and Fairview Drive in the City of Barrie. A 33 year old female was the only occupant of the vehicle when it lost control, flipping onto its roof and colliding with a hydro pole.

The female was taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries where she was later charged with impaired driving.

The roadway was shut down for a short period of time while the investigation occurred and hydro crews worked to repair the pole.

She was released with a future court date.

Occurrence Type: Collision

Date: Saturday, September 12, 2015 – 1:45am

On Saturday, September 12, 2015, Police responded at 1:40 a.m., to a single vehicle collision at Georgian Drive and Gallie Court in the City of Barrie.

A 19-year-old, Barrie, male was the lone occupant of the vehicle when it lost control striking a traffic signal box, dislodging the concrete base from the ground and perforating the gas tank.

Police pulled the male from the vehicle as fuel was spilling inside the vehicle and surrounding area. The male was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Care Center and later airlifted to a Toronto area hospital with serious-life threatening injuries.
