Man Found Passed Out Behind While 2X Legal Limit

At approximately 4:40 a.m. on Saturday, September 19th a taxi driver alerted police to a nearby vehicle whose driver was slumped over the steering wheel.

Police located the sedan in the 200 block of 9th Street East. A 45-year old Orangeville resident was asleep in the driver’s seat. The car was not running but the keys were in the ignition and the power was on. Police investigation led to the driver’s arrest. Breath samples were provided to a qualified Intoxilyzer Technician, yielding results of 170 and 160 mgs of alcohol per 100 mls of blood – twice the legal limit.

The driver was charged with impaired care and control of a motor vehicle and having an excess blood/alcohol level. His vehicle is impounded for 7 days, his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.

Police wish to thank the cab driver for helping keep another impaired driver off of our roads.
