Man Killed By Arrow In Kitchener – Risk To General Public Unknown At This Time

Waterloo Region, Ontario– Waterloo Regional Police are committed to the investigation of a suspicious death that took place this morning (6 Oct) at 7am in the area of Margaret Avenue, in the city of Kitchener.

Police responded to an injured male who had sustained life threatening injuries from an arrow. Emergency Service personnel transported the man to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police have now notified the victim’s family, and are able to identify the deceased as Michael F. Gibbon, 60 years.

Detectives from the Homicide Branch and General Investigations have been on scene throughout the day, where they will remain through the evening and the coming days. A Police Command post is set up in the parking lot of Breithaupt Center, located at 350 Margaret Avenue, Kitchener.

At this early stage in the investigation, the risk to public safety is not yet known. The public should be vigilant, aware of their surroundings and are asked to report any suspicious activity to police.

Margaret Avenue between Union Street and Hartwood Avenue, Kitchener remains closed for investigators for the time being. Investigators believe there is no connection between the residence cordoned off on Margaret Avenue, and the incident.
