Impaired Driver
Early Tuesday morning, around 12:46 am a uniformed officer was travelling eastbound on Dunlop Street West and Bayfield Street when he observed a GMC pick-up abruptly pull out into the roadway from a parking spot on the side of the road.
The driver kept speeding up and slowing down and was not obeying the rules of the road and often drove into the opposite side of the road. When the officer activated his emergency lights instead of the driver pulling over he simply stopped in the middle of the road.
After further investigation the 55 year old Barrie male was arrested and charged for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle. The male has a court date on October 26th, 2015
While transporting back to the police station the same officer observed a Ford Escape stopped at a green light in the eastbound curb lane on Simcoe Street at Toronto Street. This was approximately 1:00 am. The driver was slumped over the driver’s wheel of the vehicle, unresponsive.
When the officer attempted to unlock the vehicle the driver ‘came too’ and the vehicle started to roll forward. The car travelled around 15 feet before the driver stopped the vehicle.
Further investigation resulted in the 36 year old Barrie male arrested and charged with Care and Control While Impaired-By Drug. The male was held overnight and attends court this morning, October 13th, 2015.

Intoxicated Male
Last evening, Monday October 12th, 2015 around 9:38 pm Police were called to attend the area of Rose Street and Newton Street to respond to reports of a male walking in the middle of the street and he was reported to be jumping on vehicles.
A K-9 Officer arrived in the area shortly after the call was dispatch to find a 31 year old male on Grove street. The male was extremely unsteady on his feet and admitted to drinking that evening. The male was not wearing shoes or a street and had abrasions on his right arm.
The Barrie male did not require medical attention but he was returned to Barrie Police Station for his own safety.

A disgruntled former tenant returned to his landlords home on Sunday afternoon with a trailer full of garbage. The male then proceeded to spread the trash about the property. A 30 year old Barrie man has been arrested and charged with Mischief. He was released with a future court date.

Police were called to a St. Vincent Street home Sunday afternoon after a male handcuffed himself to his radiator. Shortly there after the male realized he couldn’t find the keys. The male’s girlfriend who was with him was also unable to locate the keys in the home. After struggling with the cuffs for some time the two decided to call police who attended and uncuffed the male. Police urge the public that if you are going to play with handcuffs to please ensure you have a spare key on hand.

On October 11th, 2015 Barrie Police were called to a suspicious male in a downtown parking lot. Police located the male and spoke with him. A police check was conducted on the 32 year old male and it was discovered that he was currently wanted on a warrant. Upon hearing that he was wanted the male tried to flee on foot. After a short foot chase the male was arrested without incident. He was held in custody and later transported to the Central North Correctional Centre.

At approximately 1900hrs on October 10th, 2015 Barrie Police responded to a disturbance at a downtown hotel. Upon arriving police discovered that the manager had been assaulted by some unwanted guests. Police arrived on scene and located the suspect who was arrested for assault. The manager was transported to the RVH with minor injuries. The 20 year old arrested male was released with a future court date and several condtions.

On the 8th of October 2015 Barrie Police had investigated a report of a stolen bicycle from a south end residence. At the time of report police had obtained video surveillance of a male suspect walking away with the bike.
On the evening of October 9, 2015 officers were alerted to a male matching the description of their suspect riding the bike in the south end. Officers located the male and were able to recover the bike.
A 17 year old male from Barrie stands charged with theft under $5000, possession of stolen property x2 and break and enter. He was held pending a bail hearing. The bicycle was returned to the owner.

On September 11, 2015 Barrie Police had taken a report of a male suspect using counterfeit American currency at a local gas station. At that time police were able to obtain possible suspect information including details surrounding the vehicle used in the offence.
In the early morning hours of October 10, 2105 police observed the suspect vehicle being operated by the male suspect. The identity of the male was confirmed during the traffic stop and he was placed under arrest for uttering counterfeit money. A search of the male and his vehicle yielded a quantity of crack cocaine, cocaine, marihuana, oxycodone and a large amount of cash. The manner in which the male had the drugs packaged led officers to believe the suspect was involved in trafficking drugs.
The males vehicle was seized by investigating officers and is to be held pending further investigation by the Barrie Police Asset Forfeiture officer.
A 26 year old man from Innisfil stands charged with possession controlled substance x4, possession for purpose of trafficking x3 and uttering counterfeit money. He was held pending a bail hearing.
