Saugeen Shores Police Press Release – 05Oct – 12Oct2015

5 Oct 2015,

7:15 pm an employee of the Lakeshore Racquetball Club came out into the parking lot and observed a young male going through her vehicle. The employee yelled at the teen who rode off on a bicycle. Some change was taken from the unlocked vehicle. The youth could not be located. Please remember Lock it or Lose it. Lock your vehicles, bicycles and homes. These types of thefts are crimes of opportunity, if you take the opportunity away they will move on to the next.

7 Oct 2015,

11:05 am the Petro Can had a gas drive off of $62.92. The licence plate was acquired and the driver came back to pay.

11:15 am the Canadian Tire gas bar had a gas drive off of $31.95. The licence plate number was acquired and the bill was paid.

11:43 am a 24 year old Saugeen Shores male wanted on a Saugeen Shores Police warrant was observed downtown Port Elgin and arrested. He had a small amount of marihuana in his possession. He had warrants for his arrest for Breaching and Officer Undertaking and Breaching Probation. He faces further charges of possession of a controlled substance and failing to comply with probation. He was held for a bail hearing in Walkerton.

9:07 pm police responded to a vehicle in the ditch on North Rankin St. A vehicle was doing a U-Turn in the parking lot and ended up in the ditch. No injuries or damage.

10 Oct 2015,

7:56 am a bicycle was reported stolen from a Southampton home.

9:34 pm police conducted RIDE on Highway 21. No impaired infractions.

11 Oct 2015,

11:10 am it was reported to police that some eggs were thrown at two homes on Wellington St. No damage, no suspects.

2:28 pm police received a call of people drinking in the Port Elgin Cemetery. Police located three males. One of the males was charged with Consuming Liquor in Other than a Licenced Premises.

2:44 pm police arrested a 49 year old Saugeen Shores man for Impaired Driving. Police were advised of a possible impaired driver and located the vehicle in Southampton. The driver displayed signs of impairment and was taken to the police office for breath tests. He provided breath readings of 280 mgms and 270 mgms, the legal limit is 80 mgms. He was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive over 80 mgms, his vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days and his driver’s licence was suspended to 90 days under the ADLS system.

9:27 pm police conducted RIDE in Southampton, no infractions.

12 Oct 2015,

11:33 am a bicycle was reported stolen from a Southampton residence. The bicycle was located in the police bicycle pen and returned to the owner.

11:38 am police responded to a motor vehicle collision where a vehicle left the roadway on Bruce Road #3 and ended up in the ditch. No injuries and the vehicle needed to be towed.

12:03 pm a person was shopping at Walmart and left his cell phone in the shopping basket then left the store. Upon returning his cell phone was gone.
