If you had a spare house you weren’t using, would you rent it out to a family in need? How about a refugee family? Maybe the images of World War III refugees fleeing the Middle East as the US, Russia, Syria & Saudi Arabia are bombing children and hospitals haven’t moved you yet. How about videos of rivers of starving and shivering humans crossing Europe, desperate to save the lives of their families? Images and reports of dozens of infants washing ashore has to be enough for you to realize you live a pampered existence, free from the threat of constant imminent death.
Good news! We, the Taxpayers, have a nice house in Belgrave, the former Care Partners building. Calm down, I know you are excited you can help with this horrific humanitarian crisis, and there is finally some benefit to paying the highest tax rate in Ontario. The great thing is it would be profitable and benefit the whole Community. Besides, rumour is the taxpayers have put hundreds of thousands of dollars into this building and it would have been a shame to demolish it because town staff are too lazy to look after it.
Want to help a desperate family fleeing WWIII that has lost everything, including their loved ones, possessions, Community, Culture, etc, etc. Think we should “allow” a refugee Family to live in the former Care Partners building in Belgrave? It’s a no-brainer right, so why not. Helping people, making a profit, and saving a perfectly fine building. Don’t worry, Reeve Neil Vincent is fully aware of the Public’s desire to help those in desperate need, and has gotten Wingham to where we are now….oh shit, maybe worry.
Helping is simple. Buy a DeLorean equipped with a flux capacitor, hit 88 miles per hour and time-travel back to a few weeks ago when we warned you about the pending demolition, get off your ass and fight for your Community for once. That’s right, the building is already gone and grass seed is strewn about.
We have lost a valuable asset and reduced our ability to help others. You get what you vote for. I know you were busy, your chickens were probably facing the wrong way in Farmville, or you had to harvest a PotFarm crop. Do you remember the last time you cared about something for more than 20-30 seconds in the real world?
Isn’t it time you started participating in our Community? North Huron council meetings are the first and third Monday’s each month at Wingham Town Hall starting at 7pm. The next meeting is Monday night, 02Nov2015.
CORRECTION: The building is the former Care Partners” location
