Brantford Crime Briefs – November 12, 2015

Type: Break and Enter (residential)

Incident: 38426-15, 38432-15

Location: Stephenson Road

Details: On November 12, 2015 sometime between 3:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. unknown person(s) entered a vehicle parked in a driveway on Stephenson Road. Suspect(s) located a garage door opener inside the vehicle and used this to open up the attached garage at the home. Suspect(s) were then able to access the home via an interior door located in the garage while the home owners slept. A laptop, purse and wallet were amongst the items reported stolen from the home.

A second vehicle parked at a different driveway on Stephenson Road was entered and the glove box opened. The BPS believes that suspect(s) were searching for a garage door opener which may have been hidden inside the glove box.

We encourage citizens not to leave garage door openers in plain view inside your vehicle. Lock your doors and before you leave your vehicle unattended ensure that no valuables are left in the vehicle. When it comes to home security ensure that all doors and windows are locked, include the garage access door. An unlocked door is a potential crime of opportunity.

The BPS requests citizens to report all crimes and suspicious activities which take place on your property. All thefts from your motor vehicles should be reported to the BPS regardless if items are stolen.
