(SUDBURY, ON)- On November 21, 2015, at approximately 3:45 a.m., members of the Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a traffic complaint regarding a vehicle that was located in a ditch on Felix Crescent, on the Atikamesheng First Nation (Whitefish Lake First Nation).
Police attended the scene and determined that the driver had consumed alcohol.
As a result of the investigation, Mathew SAWDON, 23 years of age, from Atikamesheng First Nation, was arrested and charged with the following:
1. Adult – Care or control while impaired, contrary to the Criminal Code
2. Adult – Care or control over 80 milligrams, contrary to the Criminal Code
SAWDON’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven (7) days
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, on December 23, 2015 to answer to his charges.
The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
