Vehicle Stop Leads To Weapons Charges

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment has charged a 70-year-old male and a 69-year-old male after police stopped and investigated a motor vehicle at a North Main Street, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Friday, November 27, 2015 at approximately 8:39 a.m., police were conducting patrols in the area of North Main Street when a vehicle attracted an officer’s attention. The vehicle was stopped and investigated.

As a result of investigation, police arrested and charged 70-year-old Robert Arthur KEARNS of Norfolk County, Ontario with the following offences.

Breach of Firearms Regulation

Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm

Unauthorized possession of a Firearm

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

Fail to comply with Recognizance X2

Driving while disqualified

Drive motor vehicle – no currently validated permit

Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

Driving while under suspension

Charged with the following offences is 69-year-old Frank Wilfred KEARNS of Norfolk County, Ontario.

Breach of Firearms Regulation

Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm

Unauthorized possession of a Firearm

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

Both are to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.
