(NAPANEE, ON)- Officers with the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted Festive RIDE programs last week in Stone Mills Township.
On Thursday November 26th 2015, at 7:31 p.m. officers checked a driver for impairment by drugs and/or alcohol after noting the smell of alcohol and burnt marihuana coming from within the vehicle.
An OPP Canine unit assisted in the search of the vehicle. The driver and passenger were subsequently arrested for possession of a controlled substance after police located 40 grams of marihuana and 5 grams of cocaine in the vehicle.
The passenger in the vehicle, a 17 year-old Odessa man, faces two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.
He is scheduled to appear in Youth Court in Napanee on January 11th, 2016.
Officers also apprehended an impaired driver during the Festive Ride check in Yarker that same night. Charged with impaired driving and over 80 mgs is 61 year old Gordon DAVIS of Stone Mills Township.
DAVIS is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Napanee on December 22, 2015.
Police also charged two drivers for driving while suspended and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. Two other drivers were charged with failing to have a current validation sticker on their licence plates.
