(BURK’S FALLS, ON) – On Tuesday December 1, 2015 at approximately 12:00 p.m. members of the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) including their Criminal Investigation Unit and officers from the North East Region Support Team (NERST) conducted a traffic stop on Ontario Street and subsequently arrested the driver. In addition, officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Ontario Street. As a result of the investigation, a quantity of cocaine, marihuana and several weapons were located and seized. The total value of seized drugs is approximately $3000. OPP charged Jason MCDONALD (40) of Burk’s Falls, Ontario with the following offences.
• Possession of firearm or weapon or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (3 counts), contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code (CC)
• Unauthorized possession of a weapon, (2 counts), contrary to section 91(2) of the CC
• Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
• Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA
• Possession of a schedule II substance – marihuana under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA
The accused male was held in custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 in Parry Sound, Ontario.
OPP also charged Lisa CECY (39) of Perry Township with possession of a schedule II substance – marihuana under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA and fail to comply with a probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.
The accused female was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday January 28, 2016 in Sundridge, Ontario.
