(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On December 9, 2015 at approximately 10:39 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) was conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Wellington Road 39 near Wellington Road 30, Guelph-Eramosa Township.
Police spoke with the male driver of a 2015 Hyundai that entered R.I.D.E. program and detected the odour of alcohol on his breath. A Roadside Screening Device (ASD) test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested transported to an OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
51-year-old Wayne DERBYSHIRE of Cambridge has been charged with Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 12, 2016 to answer to the charge.
