(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On December 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m., officers with the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Causley Street, Blind River.
As a result of their investigation, Charles PYNE, 61 years of age, of Elliot Lake, Ontario was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – No Insurance, contrary to section 2(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River, on March 2, 2016.
Another traffic stop was conducted at 4:40 p.m., on Causley Street where the driver, Michel SURETTE, 45 years of age, from Surrey, British Columbia, was charged with Drive Under Licence of other Jurisdiction while Suspended in Ontario, contrary to section 36 of the Highway Traffic Act. The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River, on March 2, 2016.
MALE ARRESTED FOR DOMESTIC ASSAULT
(SERPENT RIVER FIRST NATION, ON)- On December 25, 2015 at 11:24 a.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Serpent River First Nation.
Investigation revealed a male had broken into a residence where an altercation ensued between with the female occupant as a result, a 25 year male was arrested and charged with:
Assault – Spousal, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC);
Adult, Break Enter Dwelling House – Commit indictable offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the CC;
Adult, Mischief – Domestic (4 counts), contrary to section 430(4) of the CC; and with
Theft Under $5000, contrary to section 334(b) of the CC.
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on February 4, 2016. The OPP will not be releasing the name in order to protect the identity of the victim.

DRUG OFFENCES
(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On December 28, 2015 at 2:14 a.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 17 in Huron Shores and conducted a traffic stop.
As a result of the stop, it was determined that there was Cannabis Marihuana and Cannabis Marihuana resin in the vehicle. The driver, Kyle SCHIERENBERG, 22 years of age, from Lethbridge, Alberta, was arrested and charged with the following:
Adult Possession of a Scheduled II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams
Adult Possession of a Scheduled II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 1 gram.
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on March 3, 2016.
DOMESTIC SEXUAL ASSAULT
(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On December 28, 2015 members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into allegations of a sexual assault which occurred in the town of Blind River between the December 8, 2015 and December 15, 2015.
As a result of the investigation, officers arrested and charged a 21year old male of Blind River with Adult Sexual Assault, contrary to section 271(1) of the Criminal Code. The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River February 14, 2016. The OPP will not be releasing the name in order to protect the identity of the victim.

BREAK AND ENTER
(SPANISH, ON)- On December 28, 2015 the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a break and enter at a seasonal property in the 200 Block of Brennan Harbour Road in the town of Spanish. The break and enter occurred between December 1- 28, 2015.
The suspect(s) entered into the dwelling by kicking in the front door. Items stolen are a 15 HP Mariner outboard motor, mini fridge, Laptop, boat trailer jack, 110v winch, various bottles of liquor and various clothing items/household items.
