(POINT EDWARD, ON)- On January 6, 2016 at approximately 8:30 a.m. members of the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended Fort Street within the Village of Point Edward to investigate a fail to remain collision. Upon OPP arrival, it was discovered that the collision had actually occurred at the intersection of Christina and Lite Streets.
Investigation revealed that a 23 year old male had been operating a pick-up truck with a large enclosed trailer in tow. It was at the intersection of Christina and Lite Streets that this pick- up truck and trailer struck another pick- up truck and fled the scene. The victim driver followed the suspect driver to Fort Street, Point Edward, where Fort Street “dead ends” at Lake Huron. It was at this time the OPP were called and attended.
Jonathan NIELD, 23 years-of-age, of the City of Sarnia has been charged with allegedly committing the offences of; driving while under suspension and failing to remain at the scene of an accident contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is to appear at the Sarnia Provincial Offences Court on March 11, 2016 in order to answer to the allegations.
The investigation is ongoing as additional charges are being considered.
