David William FLETCHER – Drunk Driving 2X Limit

(PETROLIA, ON) – On Wednesday January 6th, 2016 at approximately 1:14 p.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a request from a neighbouring police service to assist in locating a motor vehicle and driver with respect to possible medical concerns.

At approximately 1:39 p.m. members of the Lambton OPP observed a motor vehicle fitting the description traveling southbound on Nauvoo Road in the area of Brick Yard Line, Warwick Township. OPP confirmed it was in fact the motor vehicle and then conducted a traffic stop in the area of Nauvoo Road and Egremont Road. OPP officers made contact with the lone male driver of the motor vehicle and shortly thereafter determined that he was medically ok however was impaired due to the consumption of an alcoholic beverage. The male driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP – Petrolia Detachment for breath testing which resulted in readings more than two times the legal limit.

As a result, 48 year-old, David William FLETCHER of Southwest Middlesex, ON was charged with:

Driving While Ability Impaired

Driving With More Than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood

Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor

The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday February 1st, 2016.

The OPP is reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or other drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. The OPP would like to encourage the public to dial 911 to report anyone who is operating or about to operate a motor vehicle while impaired.
