Man Charged with Obstruct Police CK15037444
Yesterday afternoon, a business on King Street East in Chatham called police to report an unwanted man in their store. The man was loitering inside the store without making any purchases. The man left the area on a bicycle prior to police arrival, however officers located him on St. Clair Street near Poplar Street.
Upon speaking with the man regarding the complaint, he falsely identified himself to police. Officers recognized the man and confirmed that he had just lied about his identity. Through investigation, officers learned that he was also bound by a condition to reside at a specific address, to which he was not.
The 25-year-old Chatham man has been charged with obstruct police and failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Being Intoxicated in a Public Place CK15037454
Last night around 5:30 p.m. the man entered police headquarters in an intoxicated state and began causing a disturbance in the lobby. The man was taken into custody for his own safety.
The 24-year-old Chatham man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He will be released when sober.
Motor Vehicle Collision CK15037463
Around 7:45 p.m. last night, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Bear Line Road near Pioneer Line. The driver lost control of her vehicle, slid off the roadway and came to rest in the ditch.
The driver sustained minor injuries. Total damage was estimated at $10,000.
The 19-year-old Chatham woman was charged with disobeying a stop sign.
