Three Impaired Drivers Charged Over The Weekend In Bracebridge

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Officers from the Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment have charged three people with alcohol related driving offenses over the course of the weekend in Muskoka.

On Friday January 15, 2016 shortly after 7:00 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on Taylor Road in Bracebridge in order to investigate the unusual behaviour of a motorist. As a result, police arrested and charged 57 year-old John CALDWELL of Bracebridge with Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in his blood CC 253(1)(b). The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 2, 2016 to answer to his charge.

On Friday January 15, 2016 just after 9:00 p.m. police stopped a vehicle for speeding on Bethune Drive in Gravenhurst. Further investigation revealed the presence of alcohol and the driver, 22 year-old Donnavan CHANG of Gravenhurst, was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle CC 253(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 253(1)(b). The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 2, 2016 to answer to his charges.

On Saturday January 16, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. police stopped a vehicle on Cedar Lane in Bracebridge and began an investigation into the related administrative details. Police subsequently arrested and charged the driver, 51 year-old John SHARKEY of Bracebridge with Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in his Blood CC 253(1)(b) along with several Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act offenses. The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 2, 2016 to answer to his charges.

In all cases, the accused drivers received an immediate 90 day driver’s licence suspension and further had their vehicles towed and impounded.
