(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On January 25, 2016, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Causley Street, in the town of Blind River.
At 3:00 p.m., police observed an eastbound vehicle on Causley Street. A traffic stop was initiated. As a result of the investigation, police could detect a strong odour of cannabis marihuana. Two males were arrested and the vehicle searched. Police found a small amount of cannabis marihuana and several non-prescription pills. The driver was also found to be suspended driver.
The driver, Nathan THOMSON, 34 years of age, Winnipeg, Manitoba, was charged with:
Possession Cannabis Marihuana-Under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs Substances Act;
Possession Schedule I, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs Substances Act; and
Drive While Suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River for the drug charges June 2, 2016 and May 25, 2016 for the Suspend Driver.
