Wacker Plate Tamper Slips Off Backhoe Sends One To Hospital

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On Monday, January 25, 2016 at approximately 5:25 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an injured male at a construction site on Elm Street in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

A 33-year old Wiarton man was injured after a Wacker plate tamper used to compress gravel slipped off a backhoe and landed on the man’s foot. The victim was transported to hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

The Ministry of Labour was contacted for further investigation.
