Smoke Detector Saves Another Life

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – This morning at approximately 2:55 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a residential structure fire at a home located on the First Line Town of Erin.

Crews from the Town of Erin Fire and Emergency Services and Guelph-Eramosa Fire Department tended to the fire. The 59-year-old home owner was awakened by the smoke detector and ran to the neighbours to call 911. He was transported to a local hospital by Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as a precaution.

The damage to the home was extensive.

Town of Erin Fire and Emergency Services are investigating the possible cause. The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal was notified however, will not be attending.
