Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 02Feb2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 82 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested.

Man Arrested from Wanted List CK16002692

On December 19, 2015 around 2:00 a.m. an altercation began between five men, all known to each other, at a residence on Queen Street North in Tilbury. The victim, a 23-year-old Tilbury man was assaulted and cash from his wallet was stolen along with his Samsung cell phone. Through investigation, police identified the four men responsible and a warrant for the offence of robbery was issued for their arrest.

Early this morning, police located the third man in the area of Queen Street and Prospect Street. The 21-year-old Tilbury man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing. Police continue to look for the fourth and final man.

Man Charged with Assault with a Weapon CK16002671

On January 26, 2016 the man and his wife became involved in a domestic disturbance at their residence in Chatham Township. During the argument, the man threw a portable vacuum striking his wife in the face.

The incident was reported to police yesterday and the man was arrested last night. The 56-year-old Dresden man has been charged with assault with a weapon. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stolen Vehicle in Chatham CK16002672

Sometime yesterday between 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) stole a red 2000 Ford Taurus parked on Water Street. The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates BVWS 446.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK16002642

Sometime over the past weekend, unknown suspect(s) forced their way through a fence into a construction yard on Colbourne Street. Damage to the fence was estimated at $100. Once inside the yard, the suspect(s) entered an unlocked trailer and stole seven (7) Foundation windows and two (2) window kits. Total value of the theft is approximately $1500.

Industrial Accident CK16002648

Yesterday morning, two pallets fell onto an employee at a business in Pain Court. The 59-year-old Chatham man was able to free himself and call for help. He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention. The Ministry of Labour was contacted.

Woman Charged with Being Intoxicated in a Public Place CK16002614

Yesterday morning around 6:00 a.m. police responded to a disturbance on Westcourt Boulevard. Officers located an intoxicated woman who was unable to care for herself. For her own safety, she was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.

The 23-year-old Wallaceburg woman was charged with being intoxicated in a public place. She was released several hours later when sober.
