Jean-Pierre GINGRAS Charged At RIDE

(SUDBURY, ON)- On February 3, 2016, members of the Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD) established a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) initiative on Estaire Road, in the City of Greater Sudbury.

At approximately 4:50 pm, officers had occasion to check a southbound vehicle occupied by a male who stopped at the R.I.D.E. program.

During the traffic stop, it was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. A roadside breath test was administered. The driver registered a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) in the “Warn Range”.

As a result of the investigation, Jean-Pierre GINGRAS, 55 years of age, from Estaire, was issued an immediate roadside driver’s licence suspension for three days.

The accused was also charged with the following offences:

Adult – Fail to surrender licence, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Adult – Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Adult – Fail to have insurance card, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
