(Bancroft, Ontario) – On the 5th day of February 2016, police received a report of a suspicious male hanging around the area of the Quinte Health Care – North Hastings (Bancroft Hospital). Officers with the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) attended the scene and located the suspect male inside the hospital. The male was known to police from previous incidents.
Police spoke with them male, who became confrontational with the officers when he was asked why he was in that particular area. After a brief exchange of words, he departed the scene. After speaking with hospital staff, police also left, but as they were doing so observed the male returning into the building through another entrance.
Police returned inside and spoke with the male again, who began swearing and threatening police.
The male was arrested, and brought him back to the Bancroft O.P.P. Detachment. Charged with Criminal Harassment (engaging in threatening conduct), and Causing a Disturbance is 54 year-old Alexander IBEY of Bancroft. He was held in custody, and to appear before Belleville Bail Court on the 8th of February 2016.
