(Otonabee-South Monaghan Township, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were called to assist at a collision just before 9:30am today on Hiawatha Line at Base Line Road.
A car northbound, on Hiawatha Line, failed to stop for the stop sign at Baseline Road. The vehicle crashed through a stand of cedars before coming to rest near a private residence. Witnesses advised that they heard the collision around 2:00am but could not see anything in the dark. The vehicle was discovered just after 9:30am this morning.
Graham MCKINNON (age 65) of Otonabee-South Monaghan Township was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.
The intersection of Base Line and Hiawatha Line remained closed for several hours. Peterborough County OPP continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
