(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP)-Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was successful with their focused patrols on Highway 6 between Wellington Road 17 and Wellington Road 51, Centre Wellington Township from February 7 to February 21. There were no collisions reported during this 2-week timeframe and only 3 vehicles entered the ditch when road and weather conditions were poor.
Officers issued numerous traffic related tickets including;
65 for speeding
3 for driving with a hand held device
2 for driving while under suspension
1 seatbelt
2 for having no insurance
“By focusing our patrols in higher collision locations, we can be more effective in reducing those crashes making it safer for everyone”, said Wellington County OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Scott Lawson.
Police want to remind motorists to slow down and drive according to the road and weather conditions.
