Fatal Collision – 20 Year Old Ejected From Vehicle

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment is investigating a single motor vehicle collision at a Windham Road 9, Windham, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Thursday, March 3, 2016 at approximately 9:52 p.m., OPP, Norfolk County Fire Services and Paramedics responded to a single motor vehicle collision.

Investigation has determined that a red coloured pick-up truck was travelling westbound on Windham Road 9 at Windham East Quater Line Road when the driver lost control and entered into a field located on the north side of the roadway rolling over.

As a result, a 20 year-old male passenger of Norfolk County, Ontario was ejected from the truck and was taken to a local area hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The 26-year-old female driver of Norfolk County, Ontario suffered life threatening injuries after being partially ejected and was pronounced deceased on scene.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation and speed, alcohol and failure to wear seat belt restraints are being considered as contributing factors in this collision.

Identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Windham Road 9 is closed between Windham East Quarter Line Road and Nixon Road for approximately 4 hours to allow for police investigation.
