(MIDLAND, ON) – On March 12, 2016 at approximately 11:40 p.m. officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed and swerving within the lane on Vinden Street in the Town of Midland, ON.
While conducting their investigation, police found the two male occupants to be in possession of a quantity of illegal drugs.
Police have charged Kyle VARTIAINEN (age 24) of Midland, ON with:
Possession of Schedule II substance – Cannabis Resin over 1 gram contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession of Schedule II substance for the Purpose of Trafficking under 3 kg contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Also charged is Jason BELCOURT (age 24) of Tay Township, ON with:
Possession of Schedule II substance – Cannabis Resin over 1 gram contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession of Schedule II substance for the Purpose of Trafficking under 3 kg contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused parties are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on April 28, 2016 in Midland, ON.
