Fatal Collision

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were called to assist with a head-on collision on Highway 35 near Lifford Road just after 7:00am this morning.

A vehicle travelling northbound on Highway 35 crossed the centre line and collided with a southbound vehicle. The driver of the northbound vehicle was identified as a 38 year old male from Minden, ON. He was transported to a Toronto area hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, a 54 year old from the City of Kawartha Lakes, succumb to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The roadway surrounding the collision was closed for approximately four hours, while OPP members trained in Technical Collision Investigation and Collision Reconstruction documented and measured the scene. Highway 35, has since, been reopened. The investigation continues.
