HANSON – Drunk Driving, etc

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – On March 10, 2016, at approximately 1:49 p.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a motor vehicle with tinted windows travelling eastbound on Dundas Street.

A vehicle stop of the Ford car was initiated, and officers determined the male driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening device was administered, and the driver registered a “fail”.

The male was arrested, and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for breath testing, which revealed he had consumed over twice the legal limit of alcohol.

As a result of the police investigation, 43-year-old Darren HANSON, from Woodstock, Ontario, has been charged with driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was further charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with colour coating obscuring interior, and under the Tobacco Tax Act (TTA) with possess unmarked cigarettes.

The accused was released by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to appear in a London court on April 5, 2016, to answer the charge.
